Envases del Sur has been operating in Peru since 2010. The company specializes in the manufacture of 20 and 80 liter drums, designed for exporting olives.
Located in the city of Tacna, Peru’s main olive-producing region, the company manufactures high-density polyethylene (HDPE) drums from 100% recycled raw material. Since 2012, in an effort to support the flow of this raw material, the plant has owned its own pelletizer, which is to say that it recycles part of what it needs for its production on site.
By so doing, Envases del Sur plays an active role in the circular economy and recycles about 900 tons of plastic per year. In this way the company is adding value to what otherwise would be waste, while also providing income opportunities for hundreds of small gatherers and recyclers in the Tacna area.
